Families in the 4 corners area will be building "Cinco de Mayo fiesta, OLÉGO style" on May 5, 2012 using LEGO creativity! Starting at1pm, Raptor Robotics will be hosting a LEGO Education Showca
se Event at the San Juan County Fairgrounds.
The
Showcase Event is a customizable building activity that sparks
creativity in participants by allowing them to use their imaginations to
create LEGO models around a theme. The theme for this event is "Cinco de Mayo fiesta, OLÉGO style!" The "Cinco de Mayo Fiesta" theme
was selected to help families facilitate a sense of unity with others
by recognizing the importance of all cultures and histories.
“By
hosting a LEGO Education Showcase Event we are offering community
members the opportunity to work together to explore and build. This
will foster the type of unity we hope to facilitate,” said event lead,
Miriam Peterson. “We will also be celebrating the addition of new LEGO
Education Space and Airport Sets to the Raptor Robotics curricula which
will be used to enhance and expand the study of science, technology,
engineering, and math for young learners.”
The
LEGO Education Showcase Grant was made available through Education
Blueprints Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing
learning resources and programs that deliver education solutions to
individuals, teachers, and students. Only 100 LEGO Education Showcase
Grants were available nation-wide.
